Competition Rules
Eligibility
To be eligible for participation in ENVISION, all projects must meet the following requirements:
- Be entirely written by the team members with minimal help from mentors or teachers.
- Be written by a team which does not comprise more than 4 individuals.
- Be written by a team which only comprises of female and genderqueer identifying individuals.
- Be written by a team of students or an individual student who is in high school. The following scenarios are also accepted:
- A team member who is in eighth grade for part of the competition year.
- A team member who is a college freshman for part of the competition year.
- Be a project which has not previously won ENVISION category or overall awards. (Projects previously entered may be re-entered.)
- Be formatted correctly and contain all requirements from Entry Requirements.
Common Reasons for Disqualification
Entries are disqualified every year because they fail to adhere to requirements. Please review the following nine most common reasons to ensure that your entry is not disqualified:
- Project is not submitted via the competition portal. Entries submitted via email or other means will not be considered.
- Team requirements are not met (e.g. not all members are female or genderqueer, a mentor was involved).
- Project format is incorrect (e.g. abstract and title pages are not separate, either is missing, etc).
- Project is not at least 5 pages including title page and abstract.
- References are not included.
- Project is not submitted in English.
- Project page size or margin size has been altered from the standard 8 1/2" x 11" white paper, with 1" margins.
- Project is not submitted on time. There are no exceptions made for late entries. Project file is corrupt. The project file is not submitted in the required PDF format and therefore cannot be opened.
Intellectual Property
Students retain all rights to scientific ideas contributed through ENVISION Research Competition entries. These ideas will not be repurposed by ENVISION competition or judges in any way.
